Watch our April 17, 2022 adult Sunday school class by Tom Cantor from the Gospel of Matthew 22:15-22.
Tom started with a review from Matthew 22:1-14. He went over the parable of the banquet feast. He spoke about the importance of being close in Christ righteousness work versus our own works.
Tom spoke about his interaction with a Jewish rabbi about the Lord Jesus Christ.
Tom then went back and spoke a little more on the parable of building one’s house on the sand or rock (Matthew 7:24–27). He spoke at the important thing was the foundation that is built upon. He gave examples from his time in Loretto, Mexico and Ethiopia. Also, he told a story of a missionary being guided by an African through the jungle. When the missionary asked directions the African said that he should follow him saying, “I am the way.“ In the same way, the Lord Jesus is the one we should follow.
Tom discussed the passage in Matthew 22:15–22. He noted that The Lord Jesus did not fall into the trap set for him. Instead he said that the image on the coin was Caesar’s, so give it to Cesar. By implication, we are made in the image of God (Genesis1: 27), and so we should give ourselves to God.
