Watch our April 24, 2022 Worship service, sermon by Sohrab Ramtin (Mark 12:13-17)

Watch our April 24, 2022 Worship service. It includes singing, announcements, special music, and a sermon by Sohrab Ramtin from Mark 12:13-17.

The hymns we sang this morning were “‘Abba, Father,’ We Approach Thee,” “Lord, Thou Hast Searched Me,” “Standing on the Promises,” and our closing hymn “My Savior First of All.“ our special music was a course from I Peter chapter 1 and 2, “To You Who Believe He is Precious.“

Dr. Sohrab Ramtin top from Mark 12:13-17 on the Lord Jesus Christ being questioned about paying taxes to Caeser. Sohrab noted that the Pharisees and Herodians were enemies, but they came together against Christ. He applied this to enemies who are against the truth of God will unite against the truth of God. He pointed out that the Pharisees would have the theological insight to try to trap Jesus and the Herodian’s would have the political connections to get the Lord in trouble.

Sohrab towards the conclusion said “truth is profound but also simple“ in referring to Jesus‘s response to them. He noted that the God had instituted government, so we should obey them unless they tell us to go against God. He also pointed out that the coins had Caesar’s images on them, but we are in the image of God. The implication is we should give ourselves to God as we should give Caesar’s coins to Caesar.

Tom Cantor also taught on this last week from the parallel passage in the Gospel of Matthew. His teaching was for our adult Sunday school. You can watch it Here.

Watch our April 24, 2022 adult Sunday school class by Tom Cantor (Matthew 22:23-33)

Watch our April 24, 2022 adult Sunday school class by Tom Cantor from the Gospel of Matthew 22:23-33.

Tom taught from Matthew 22:23-33, but first he gave a review. He noted that verse 23 starts with “the same day“. Many things happened that day going back to Matthew 21:18. Tom pointed out the interactions Jesus had had previously with different Jewish people. These included where Jesus got his authority (21:23–27), the parable of the two sons (28–32), the parable of the wicked vinedressers (33–46), the parable of the wedding feast (22:1–14), and paying taxes to Caesar (15–22).

Tom made this analogous to a fighter stepping in the ring and waving on all comers to fight him and then kayoing them (John 7:46).

Next, he pointed out there are two resurrections (John 5:28–29), The resurrection of life and the resurrection of condemnation. Tom pointed to John 14:16 to show Jesus is the way, John 11:25 to show that he is the resurrection and John 20:31 to show that we gain life from believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Tom Cantor then went on to teach from Matthew 22:23–33 where the Sadducees ask about the resurrection. He made a number of good points including the Lord telling them they did not know the scriptures and this is a warning to us all to study the Bible. God wants us to think and we should come to the Bible setting aside our preconceived beliefs. He then closed with seven lessons we can learn from this passage.

Watch our April 17, 2022 adult Sunday school class by Tom Cantor (Matthew 22:15-22)

Watch our April 17, 2022 adult Sunday school class by Tom Cantor from the Gospel of Matthew 22:15-22.

Tom started with a review from Matthew 22:1-14. He went over the parable of the banquet feast. He spoke about the importance of being close in Christ righteousness work versus our own works.

Tom spoke about his interaction with a Jewish rabbi about the Lord Jesus Christ.

Tom then went back and spoke a little more on the parable of building one’s house on the sand or rock (Matthew 7:24–27). He spoke at the important thing was the foundation that is built upon. He gave examples from his time in Loretto, Mexico and Ethiopia. Also, he told a story of a missionary being guided by an African through the jungle. When the missionary asked directions the African said that he should follow him saying, “I am the way.“ In the same way, the Lord Jesus is the one we should follow.

Tom discussed the passage in Matthew 22:15–22. He noted that The Lord Jesus did not fall into the trap set for him. Instead he said that the image on the coin was Caesar’s, so give it to Cesar. By implication, we are made in the image of God (Genesis1: 27), and so we should give ourselves to God.

The Parable of the Wedding Banquet, part 2 – Watch our April 10, 2022 adult Sunday school class by Tom Cantor

Watch our April 10, 2022 adult Sunday school class by Tom Cantor from the Gospel of Matthew on the Parable of the Wedding Banquet. Tom taught from Matthew 22:6-13.

Tom taught today on the first second of the Parable of the Wedding Banquet. He discussed this passage and referenced other passages like Luke 15 (the Parable of the Prodigal Son). He spoke how the Lord first went to the Jews and then the gentiles. He said the Gentiles are to make the Jews jealous by our lives in Jesus so they too will turn to Jesus Christ. He noted eternal life is now and friendship with God.

He broke the king’s command to go out into Go, Bid, Find. He then applied this pattern to evangelism. Tom also noted that it was the king who looked over the guests to determine who belonged and who didn’t. He applied this to saying it is God‘s job to determine the final salvation of people. He spoke of gods call and our response, “many are called but few are chosen.” We have to respond in order to be chosen.

Passover and Jesus Our Passover Lamb by “Grandma” Joelee for kids

“Passover and Jesus Our Passover Lamb“ by “Grandma Joelee” Chamberlain. This is a Children’s Bible Audios-Stories for Kids free audio. You can listen on SermonAudio

In this audio, first she tells the story of the original Passover in Exodus. She then goes on to connect the work of Jesus Christ to the Feast of Unleavened Bread and First Fruits. She develops the number of points and connections in a way that a child can understand and enjoy.
