Our Statement of Faith

The Bible

We believe in the Scripture of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired by God, and inerrant in the original writings and that it is absolute, authoritative, supreme and final in all that it affirms. (2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:19-21; Matt 4:4)

God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deut 6:4; John 10:30; Matt 3:16-17; Isa 48:16; 2 Cor 13:14)

Creation & Fall
We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God, and that all human beings are born with sinful nature, resulting in the practice of sin in thought, word and deed. (Gen 1:26-27; Gen 3:19; Lev 18:22; Lev 20:13; Judges 19; Ps 51:5; Ps 58:3; Rom 1:24-27, Rom 3:10-12; Rom 5:12; Rom 6:23; 1 Cor 6:9-13; 1 Tim 1:10)

The Birth of Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. (Luke 1:35; Matt 1:18; Isa 7:14; Matt 1:22-23; Phil 2:5-8)

The Sacrifice of Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. (1 Cor 15:1-4; Rom 3:23-25; Rom 5:8-9)

The Resurrection and Ascension of Christ

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate. (1 Cor 15:3-4; Matt 28; John 20; Acts 1:11; Heb 7:25; 2 John 2:1)

God’s Love and Provision for the World

We believe that God loves all the world and not just the saved or those who will be saved. (John 3:16; Titus 2:11) We believe that God wants all men to be saved and is not willing that any should perish. (2 Pet 3:9; 1 Tim 2:4) We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for the sins of all men and that He provided salvation for all, but that his death is only effectual for those who believe the Gospel and repent. (1 John 2:2; John 8:24; Luke 13:3) We believe that God has given to all men the ability to believe the Gospel and repent and that man alone makes his decision and that man alone is ultimately responsible for his decision to believe and repent. (Deut 30:1; Josh 24:15; John 3:19) We believe that God is not ultimately responsible for who believes and repents and who does not believe and does not repent. We believe that God does not determine, elect, predestine or choose who will believe and repent and who will not believe and not repent. We believe that salvation is the gift of God (Eph 2:8) We believe that God foreknew who would believe and repent. (Rom 8:29-30)

Salvation

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. (John 1:12; John 3; Gal 3:26)

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the children of God are enabled to live a holy life, and to conform their behavior not to natural impulses, but to the pattern Christ set forth in his life and the Holy Spirit set forth in this Word, and to witness by word and conduct. (Eph 1:13; Eph 2: 1-7; Rom 8; Rom 12:1-2; John 14; John 16; 1 Cor 2:14; 1 John 2:6)

Christian Unity

We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in Jesus Christ. (Gal 3:28; Eph 4:1-6)

The Return of Christ

We believe in “that blessed hope” of the personal, premillennial and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (Titus 2:13; Acts 1:11; 1 Thess 4:13-18; Matt 25:1-13)

Judgement

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost. (John 5:28-29; Dan 12:2; Luke 16:19-31; Rev 21)
