Tom taught from Matthew 18:15–20. He talked about how to reconcile personal offenses between Christians biblically. He gave an analogy from his first time working construction as to how problems can fester and noted even in church discipline to remember Matthew 18:11 that “The Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.”

This Sunday he taught from Matthew 18:1-6. He connected it to the previous chapter and the parallel passage of Mark 9:35. The apostles were wondering who would be greatest in the kingdom, and the Lord Jesus answered by the example of two ways that a little child acts. Tom also gave examples from Jewish evangelism and evangelism in general.

This passage covered the question to Jesus paying the temple tax and Jesus’s response to cast hook in the sea to get a fish and the money would be in the fish’s mouth. One minor point Tom noted was that this is the only case of fishing with a hook in the New Testament. In all other cases where details are given, nets are used. He also address the supernatural nature of the Lord’s knowledge and of the fish having a coin. He covered other details and applications.
