Sunday Hymns – Dare to be a Daniel

Here’s another hymn by Philip P. Bliss. We sang “Dare to be a Daniel” last Sunday before Tom Cantor taught from Daniel 12:1-3.

The apostle Paul taught in Romans 15:4, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” Also, referring to another Old Testament passage, the apostle said “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come (I Corinthians 10:11).

This hymn put to music these principles and applies them for us from the life of Daniel.

Dare to be a Daniel
word & music by Philip P. Bliss

1. Standing by a purpose true,
Heeding God’s command,
Honor them, the faithful few!
All hail to Daniel’s Band!

Dare to be a Daniel!
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known!

2. Many mighty men are lost,
Daring not to stand,
Who for God had been a host
By joining Daniel’s Band.

3. Many giants, great and tall,
Stalking thro’ the land,
Headlong to the earth would fall,
If met by Daniel’s Band.

4. Hold the gospel banner high;
On to vict’ry grand!
Satan and his host defy,
And shout for Daniel’s Band.

Sunday Hymn – Once for All

There are many ways of calling people to Christ, preaching, door-to-door evangelism, street preaching, personal evangelism, books, tracts, and also songs. Here is a song, a hymn, we sang last Sunday which calls people to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Once For All
Words & Music by Philip P. Bliss

1. Free from the law, O happy condition,
Jesus has bled, and there is remission;
Cursed by the law and bruised by the fall,
Grace has redeemed us once for all.

Once for all, O sinner, receive it,
Once for all, O friend, now believe it;
Cling to the cross, the burden will fall,
Christ has redeemed us once for all.

2. Now we are free, there’s no condemnation,
Jesus provides a perfect salvation;
“Come unto Me,” oh, hear His sweet call,
Come, and He saves us once for all.

3. “Children of God,” O glorious calling,
Surely His grace will keep us from falling;
Passing from death to life at His call,
Blessed salvation once for all.
