Watch our May 1, 2022 Worship/Communion service, sermon by Tom Cantor (Nahum 2)

Watch our May 1, 2022 Worship/Communion service. It includes prayers, singing, announcements, special music a hymn on a harmonica by Josè H., and a sermon by Tom Cantor from Nahum 2.

The hymns sung this week included “Not All the Blood of Beasts” and “Hail, Thou Once-Despised Jesus!“

Tom Cantor from Nahom 2 on Nineveh’s judgment and destruction. He noted that when we are under pressure we have three voices they can speak to us the voice of the adversary (Devil), God (unlike the devil God is good), and self-reliance.

Tom pointed out that 100 years before Jonah had prophesied to Nineveh and they had repented. But now they were relying on self instead of God (2:1, 13). He noted in a two: to the emptiness of Nineveh. He contrasted that to the feeling that God gives (John 5:10; Luke 12:32; Colossians 2:6, and many other passages).

Tom Cantor then noted the interesting note that this prophecy was 100 years before the destruction of Nineveh. This too gave them time to repent, but they did not this time. He then described how the prophecies here were fulfilled when Babylon conquered Nineveh.

Tom concluded his teaching on Nahum 2 with the application of God’s love and desire that people repent and the gospel.
