Tom spoke about this passage and connected it to Nathan‘s parable to king David, the parable of the prodigal son, and even Homer’s description of the ancient Greek’s understanding of the afterlife to show how hopeless everyone is without the Lord Jesus Christ. He pointed out that the God of Israel is the God for all nations, and the only one that can give people of all nations hope in the life to come. He also gave examples of his time that he spent in Japan. He talked about a missionary to Japan that he knew, Albert T. Poole. Poole had written to hymn from his experience is called “Tell Them of One.“ This hymn is number 811 in our hymnal. He also pointed out the importance of using the time we have now to make a difference in the world for the Lord.
